The Mental Health crisis is real.
First, I define mental health as the ability to solve problems. A healthy mind can solve problems. Second, a crisis is a “time of acute danger or difficulty.” Additionally, to solve the crisis involves a decision. Doing nothing (not voting) is a decision. Does that solve the problem of who is best equipped to lead America? No. However, some undecided voters (all?), by definition, say they can’t decide who to cast their vote for.
Recently, on 2Way, journalist Mark Halperin put together an eight-person “focus group” of undecided voters from “battleground” states. His purpose was to sort through their thinking process as to why they couldn’t make up their minds.
I listened and watched with interest. Let’s get into it.
The Undecideds
decided that they all preferred Donald Trump, because of his policies. However, they said they didn’t want to vote for him because of his personality. In spite of having four years of evidence that that posed no threat, or danger, to their economic health or personal safety. Moreover, of that of the country.
In other words, Trump’s personality is not a crisis. So, what’s the problem that needs resolution?
The Problem
or crisis, is that of mental health. And it’s widespread across America. Let’s look at a few recent examples, nationally and in my neighborhood.
-
- An assassination attempt of Donald Trump by a 20 year-old man.
- Violent immigrant gang activity in Aurora, Colorado.
- The unprovoked, attempted murder of a Colorado state trooper.
- The murder of a 32-year old female by her 34-year old boyfriend in Broomfield, Colorado.
-

Murder in paradise - Another assassination attempt of Donald Trump by a 58 year-old man.

What’s going on?
We have all been traumatized collectively, and many have been so personally.
The Mental Health crisis is real
obviously. Because of a male loneliness epidemic, for one thing. And but so, what is the cause of that? The why? (I look at that in the above link.)
Another cause is Donald Trump. So say many mental health professionals. That is not real! (For a deep dive into this, please check out my book, Election 2016.)
Donald Trump is good for healthy minds. And yet, many people loathe him. What’s going on?
The Debate
is evidence of how good he is for healthy minds. Moreover, it demonstrated his genius. Watch:
The debate demonstrated Trump’s personality–that of “stable genius”. He is who he is (stable); and his style is super effective at getting what he wants (genius). Again, I take a deep dive into his personality in my book, Election 2016. Yes, he is a first-order narcissist. However, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
In Conclusion
personality is a sensitive subject, as is mental health. The thing is – everyone, everywhere, has both a personality (personal reality), and a degree of mental health (problem solving ability). What I gleaned from the Undecideds’ focus group was that they share personality traits, and a degree of mental health.
I’m not expert on the sixteen different MBTI personalities’, so I can’t categorize the group in that regard. However, I can think of them with regard to OCEAN. In general, I’d say the group is somewhat Open, highly Conscientious, low in Extroversion, low in Agreeableness, and Neurotic. Which is in contrast to Donald Trump regarding Extroversion and Neuroticism.
My guess is because of the lean toward Openness and disagreeableness, Undecideds will mostly swing for Trump come election day. Thus Trump becomes the 47th POTUS.
This will have the effect of further throwing many people into a mental health crisis. Because most liberals are Neurotic, Introverted, and Agreeable. As such they will fail to understand that there is no problem; but will make one up.
While I certainly hope you are correct in your conclusion, and agree with your definition of mental health, I wonder, if the undecideds are unable to make a decision (signaling mental health shortfalls), are they actually going to choose the right decision and vote for Trump? I would hope so. I would, however say that the left’s constant “indoctrination” of America by calling Trump a “threat to Democracy” has helped push these people over the edge. Listen to the vitriol that people like Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi spew about Donald Trump, and you have to eventually come to the conclusion that they are right. As Bill Clinton once intimated, if you tell a lie enough times, people begin to believe it.
Thanks Rich! I just watched 2way’s Morning Meeting and one of the Undecideds came on – having watched Harris’ Town Hall with Oprah. Lauren said if anything it moved her towards Trump. Because while he (Trump) makes her “sick”, Harris makes her “scared”. And, she can take medicine for one, but nothing can be done for the other (Neurotic).
Harris said (to Oprah) she views herself as a problem solver. And yet … she hasn’t shown that to be the case. Lauren is smart, but neurotic and introverted.
I think I’m right. Spoke with Psych-girl Wednesday and she agreed, about our definition of mental health. Additionally, that “The proof is in the pudding.”
That said, my concern is, as you and I know, that the Dems will cheat. If it’s close, that’ll put Harris over the finish line. And then what?
Last thought: Anyone who can make their opponent laugh (see the above video) is a special kind of person. 🙂 Cheers.
