“Fight Like Hell”: My review of the documentary

The documentary Fight Like Hell (2024) shook me to my core. It’s about the January 6th, 2021 riot at the US Capital. The film doesn’t take sides. Most of the videos were shot in real time during the riot. However, there is a lot of important video of the lead-up to that day. The preceding events, if you will.

The producer, Jon Long, says [and I agree] that the film shows “what actually happened”.

My emotional

response was of sadness. Almost to the point of tears. The documentary Fight Like Hell (2024) shook me to my core. Because I was left thinking–Are these my people?

For me, taking a step back, I’m struck with the notion that yes, we the people are in a serious mental health crisis. Moreover, that the crisis is far more severe, wide-spread, and dire than I’d ever imagined. The MH crisis is much more than just a population with emotional and psychological “problems”. Problems that can be treated within a therapist’s office.

These people, the rioters, were so angry. For sure, I was upset after the election of 2020. I, too, felt the result was fraudulent. Because of voting rule changes and suppression of information by the media and Big Tech. In concert with the amplification of other information. However, I didn’t think that Biden (and Harris) could ruin the country. Maybe I was wrong, given the state of affairs now. Additionally, “things” have gotten worse.

The Nation

may be on the verge of being drawn into war, both civil and internationally. My WordPress friend, The Lone Cactus, thinks perhaps this is the Bible’s End Times.

We are only 30 days out from Election 2024. The importance of which cannot be overstated. Elon Musk said, “It’s the most important election of our lifetimes.” I think and feel the outcome and aftermath is vital for our collective health.

In every regard, this election must be fair and just. Done “right” if you will. The hatred of Donald Trump is in itself unhealthy. In fact, it’s crazy making. Furthermore, he, Trump, did not cause this. Musk also said, “President Trump must win to preserve the constitution.”

Election 2016

was and is a mirror of America. And yes, I wrote of it. The hatred of Donald Trump began in 2016. I detail its genesis in my book, Election 2016. Before he ran and won, he was a beloved billionaire. In fact,

Trump in 1980

he was thought of as a New York City savior. There is this 1980 “lost” interview that supports the claim.

A part of my sorrow watching Fight Like Hell, is likely because of how far we have fallen since the 80’s. And it needn’t be that way. We’ve been misled, even lied to. I wrote about the how and why in my book. However, I can’t get readers. Why is that?

That’s a long story in itself. My sense it started way back in the 60’s and 70’s. Albeit, with the best of intentions. However, now, I think there is malice. My last post was censored by Facebook. Furthermore, I think WordPress is suppressing that which I write. Additionally, my site has been attacked by spam and bots. Because of my public support and voice for Trump I suspect. It’s a real thing–Trump Derangement Syndrome. And it makes me so sad, hurt.

But I don’t feel the anger and rage of the people I saw in the film. That’s just not who I am.

I always believed that people were basically good. If they knew what was true, and if you were honest and spoke, or wrote, truthfully everything would work out. That belief has been proven to me, over and over again, not to be true. The documentary Fight Like Hell is further evidence. People are crazy.

Independent thinking

is a relic. Human nature – the need for attachment/belongingness, safety and security, self-esteem/status

Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of motivation

– has been exploited for power (= the ability to compel/force obedience) and personal gain. Profit, if you will, in all its shapes and sizes. With the coming of The Internet and social media, individuals and corporations have manipulated people’s self-concept, the essence of who they are. Using language, videos, and music these malevolent actors have fanned the flames of fear to induce jealousy, hatred, and wanton desire.

If an individual dares to think independently, and speak out, that person is ostracized. “Cancelled” in today’s vernacular. Groupthink (= conformity of thought) is all that is allowed. In other words – obedience to authority.

Independent (=free) thinking, that which well might decide this election, is maliciously attacked.

In Conclusion

I am deeply troubled by the state of our nation. My faith and trust in people is gone. Blaise Pascal likely had it right when he posited that justice needs force to be effective. Said another way, “peace through strength”.

The riot that happened on January six of 2021 was a manifestation of people trying to right a wrong by force. Because the authority would not allow itself to be accused of, or admit to, wrong doing; of cheating, lying and stealing to remain in power.

Many people cite January 6th, 2016, as the reason they can’t support Trump. However, is that event being accurately described? By The Authority? I don’t think so. At least not until this documentary, Fight Like Hell.

Should you watch it? [It does show Ashli Babbitt being shot and killed, unedited.]
