Feminism and Christianity

Feminism and Christianity are incompatible. That’s according to Rachel Wilson in her book Occult Feminism: The Secret History of Women’s Liberation (2021). I think that is perhaps The Great Debate. The author makes a compelling case. I agree with much of what she has to say. The book is well researched and sourced.

Let’s talk about it.

Feminism’s History

is not what we have been taught, told, or assumed. Rachel Wilson did a deep dig into its history and uncovered the truth of the matter. As she states, “there is nothing new under the sun.” (p.57) In other words, human’s have been trying to figure out what is going on since they first arrived on the scene, or planet earth. Moreover, who is in control regarding that?

Wilson looks at the roots of feminist ideology and its leaders throughout historical times. It’s a different story, for sure, than the one we’ve been told. In short, the movement was not a grass roots, popular uprising. Women were not  oppressed! And most wanted nothing to do with voting or politics. However, the movement was a quest for sexual freedom, power, and dominance of a few wealthy, hurt, angry women rebelling against authority and the rejection of societal expectation (of marriage, childbearing, and family.) Leading to eventually, the inversion of Christianity. Christianity was/is a patriarchal structure to enslave women – is the feminist ethos. Therefore feminism and Christianity are incompatible.

As Wilson sees it, accepts as The Truth – the Devil, Lucifer, is at war with God, the father; and “vengeful female supernatural beings” are Lucifer’s means to win this war. Furthermore, young women have throughout history bought into the Devil’s plan. As she states, “every cultural female pop star and famous actress is a feminist, almost without exception. Single motherhood has become a virtue, and single mothers saints.” (p.121)

I can ad to that, to include media “stars”, journalists, and writers. Such as Mishal Husain, a super smart, attractive, British, Muslin reporter for Bloomberg. Who is, btw, married with children.

Tucker Carlson seems to agree with Rachel Wilson.

Carlson said in this interview with Mishal Husain, “Feminism is an op (operation) run by big business to lower the price of labor and to free up a massive and incredibly productive workforce.”

Supporting Research

There is research support for this. See  Arlie Russell Hothschild’s book The Time Bind (1997). From my review of the book, “The corporation had taken over the role of nurturer.” Moreover, “The good ideas, what Hochschild called ‘An angel of an Idea’ (p. 25-34) that came from first-wave Feminism have not evolved into a system that works. Instead, we are in dire straights. Individuals, families, communities, and societies all coming apart. Indeed, there appears ‘no way out.'” (p.243)

Rachel Wilson (and her husband, Andrew) believes that orthodox Christianity is the way out. She makes a good case. That case can been seen on YouTube where she argues and debates (and also, Andrew) it in a variety of formats.

Human Nature

What is human nature? Is there such a thing? Or do the feminists and postmodernists have it right? That it’s non-existent. All human behavior is the result of social construction? Wilson cites this on page 20. Additionally, that human nature, if it exists, is something to be escaped from. Which dovetails* with big business and big tech that believe we can all unite into the “singularity” and become one.

Wilson’s alternative view is that without God’s  commandments, and the Holy Trinity, we humans are hopeless amoral creatures and victims of the Devil’s temptations. We do have a natural state of being. And that dovetails* with Christianity wherein men/males have an “overwhelming inclination to die just to win the affections of women.” (p.23) And women’s nature is that of “beings of intuition and emotion.” (p.15) Furthermore, that there is truth in “the trope of the man-hating feminist with daddy issues.” (p.43)

Rachel Wilson believes that Christ’s incarnation was the “defeat of death”. (p. 128)

Which I find dovetails with the feminist/postmodernist/New Age ideology, or “religion”. Both are in the service of the denial of death. Or spring from a fear of death, pain, and suffering. Both philosophies attempt to explain the unknowable. To bring certainty to a hostile, chaotic, morally ambiguous world teeming with life. Loaded with death, pain, and suffering.

Conclusion

I definitely think you should read this book. Of course, feminists, liberals, and progressives trash it. Because it questions their worldview. That said, I am an atheist. As such, the Wilsons believe I cannot be a “good” person. Moreover, I’m bound to burn in Hell.

My brother, Jack, shared this belief. He was about as orthodox a Christian as anyone can be. Jack and I reached an agreement wherein we didn’t talk about it with each other. He was a damn fine man. Me?

• Dovetails with: It occurred to me that phrase might be unknown to many. It is reference to a woodworking joint which joins securely and perfectly two perpendicular distinct pieces of wood. It comes from its shape, which resembles that of the morning dove. It means the joint is a perfect fit. In other words – that Feminism and Christianity, as well as Big Business and Big Tech actually fit together perfectly regarding their motivation.
