ATTACHMENT: A Reading

This reading is from Attachment: A Novel of War and Peace. The video is six minutes and I made it in 2009. I can tell by the background. At the time, I was living in a cabin up in Poudre Canyon. I’m struck by my gravely voice.

Then and Now

I’ve been going through my old files on an external drive I have and watching them for the first time in, maybe fifteen years. My oh my how technology, and me, have changed! The world we inhabit today was unimaginable then. (Except perhaps by freaks like David Foster Wallace.) However, some things, such as human nature, don’t change. We are still the same. As a species–still playing the same games. Games of war and peace. Within and without, as I like to say. Which is what the book Attachment is about.

This Excerpt

This excerpt is a segment of a conversation Joe Burns has with a female friend, Candance. It occurs in her condo overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the coast of Oregon.

It’s about The System, or The Machine, or The Deep State–whatever you know it by. It does not change; but maybe gets better at doing what it does. Because of technology. And human nature.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoy this time travel. I’m blown away when I look back at the record–of my writings, myself, and the way things were, and are. This reading from Attachment sure takes me back. I’ve attached 🙂 the link to the publisher.

  1. Again – I am blown away by today’s technology! I just watched this on my PHONE; and clicked a button and it played on my TV! And the quality was pretty good. AMAZING!!! It’s not all bad. Ya gotta hand it to “them”. This stuff is addicting.
